Portal Templates, Improvements for Embedded Apps – August 2023 Release Notes Vol.2

When Motion.io users ask, our team listens.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that in addition to various improvements and bug fixes, our most requested feature over the past few weeks — portal templates — is now live for all users.

Portal Templates

Picture this: You’ve created a portal in Motion.io that is set up perfectly with all of the custom tabs, connected apps, and important resources your client will need, along with tasks that automatically remind them of to-do’s they need to complete, forms they need to submit, and files, information, and feedback they need to provide throughout your work together.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could re-use a version of this portal for new clients without starting from scratch each time?

Our new portal templates functionality allows you to do precisely this.

With this new functionality, you can toggle any portals you’ve created already as templates and use them as the foundation for new portals you create — practically eliminating the need for any additional setup work and allowing you to spin up client-ready portals in seconds.

Improvements for Embedded Apps

To better improve how the various apps & tools you want to embed in custom portal tabs display, we’ve increased the maximum width of portal tabs from 924px to 1028px.

This update further decreases the already small list of 3rd-party apps that require sizing adjustments to their embed code to display them properly in custom tabs — meaning in the vast majority of the cases, connecting the tools your business uses to your Motion.io client portals is as simple as copying and pasting an embed code.

Additional Improvements & Bug Fixes

In addition to portal templates and increased width of portal tabs, we’ve fine-tuned several other aspects of Motion.io to enhance the user experience of Motion.io for businesses and their clients.

Here’s a list of the additional improvements included in this release:

  • Improved toast alerts
  • Fixed client portal scrolling issue
  • Added Terms of Service Confirmation

That does it for today!

As a reminder, user feedback is the #1 driver of what features and functionality we add to Motion.io next.

We’d love to hear from you if you have suggestions for things you think could make Motion.io even better. Send us an email at [email protected] to get in touch.
